The Hovertrans hover system is ideally suited to the function of a drilling
platform. In fact, Hovertrans drilling platforms are used to survey and drill in
tidal estuaries, swamps, and other shallow water areas that have presented
almost insurmountable problems for conventional vehicles. Now, with the use of
air cushion systems, drilling rigs are moved with ease over the most hazardous
terrain.
Swamp master with drilling slot
The latest addition to the Hovertrans portfolio, the World's largest hover barge
weighing over 900 tons gross weight.
This hover barge, operating in the swamps of S.America features a 10ft x 40ft
drilling slot and a 330 ton payload.
Shallow water
Shallow water, sand banks and tidal areas would normally be an operation
nightmare. The hover drill barge remains unchallenged in these
environments, increasing your drilling time and making transportation easy.
Peat bog challenger
Some terrain has stopped human access for decades. The hover barge opens
up these areas, allowing heavy equipment to be moved into position with the
minimum environmental impact.
Hover Island
Building temporary / artificial islands can be expensive and a very practical
alternative is a large hover barge island.
The larger the load, the more economical it is, so a 6000ton hover barge for the
Arctic or Caspian would be 252ft x 252 ft wide (76.8m x76.8m), Hull depth 18ft
(5.5m), and hover height 8ft (2.4m) all up weight 6000 tons.
