Environmental Information
The hover barge is an environmentally friendly alternative to many
traditional access methods.
The ground pressure of the hover barge is only 1psi whilst on hover, when an
average man walking exerts between 5-10psi.
Not only is the hover barge more environmentally friendly for the terrain it
passes over, it also eliminates the need for construction work such as docks or
roads.
Unlike permanent access methods, the hover barge can be used again on other
projects, especially when constructed in a modular form for easy transportation
between distant locations.
An example application of the hover barge could be in the Arctic National
Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). The drilling platforms would be truly temporary ,
hovering between drilling locations, and supplied by hover supply barges.
This would eliminate the need to build supply roads, or accommodation camps and
drilling bases as these would all be on the hover barges.
Another possible application is in fight to save the wetlands. The need
to move thousands of tons of material to help wetlands restoration could be done
on hover.
Please view our wetlands solution and an interesting article from the
National Geographic Society.
The hover barge:
- Exerts only 1psi on hover
- Capable of carrying thousands of tons
- No permanent buildings
- No roads or docks required
- Hover over land, swamps or water
- Use as a drill rig & supply base
- Reusable on other projects
