Extensive experience
General purpose load lifting commercial hovercraft have been in use in the Arctic regions of
the Yukon River where two Hoverbarges provided round the clock, roll-on
roll-off, ferry services to the construction of the Trans Alaskan Pipeline project.
Hovertrans drilling platforms
are currently being used in Suriname and Hovertrans managers were involved
in projects using Hoverbarges successfully in Scotland where
attempts to take geological samples from an extensive area of peat bog marshland
had been hampered for 30 years due to the unstable terrain. Another
example: during expansion of plant facilities on Das Island located
approximately 110 miles off the coast of Abu Dhabi, plans to construct temporary
port facilities to handle equipment movements were dropped in favour of using a
large amphibious hovercraft with a payload of 250 tons.
